I’m Kate Szekely, an actor, producer, and teacher with a passion for bringing stories, projects, and people to life. Originally from Detroit, I grew up immersed in the vibrant culture of my family—an eclectic blend of Polish farmers and Hungarian gypsies. Armed with the work ethic of the Poles and the fire of the Gypsies, I packed my bags and moved to New York City two weeks after turning 18 to pursue my dream of working in the arts. With over a decade of experience in the industry, I have performed internationally, produced immersive documentary theater, ushered independent films from development to distribution, and taught craft-based practices to support the holistic individual.
A classically trained actor, I earned my BFA in Theatre with Honors from NYU Tisch and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Since then, my career has taken me from international stages to independent film sets and even radio. I have performed in acclaimed productions such as Pretending to Fly (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), In Their Footsteps (OnStage! Festival in Rome and Milan), and on screen in projects like Jagged Mind (Hulu) and DNA Secrets (Lifetime).
As a producer, I thrive on collaboration and bringing ambitious projects to life. I currently work with Infinite Variety Productions, a nonprofit dedicated to untold women’s stories, and a/b studios, a Knoxville-based production house specializing in genre films with heart and smarts. My producing credits include immersive documentary theater, branded short films, and independent films touring the festival circuit. From the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to NPR radio programs, my work reflects my dedication to creativity and craft, balanced with a nuanced understanding of production logistics and execution.
In addition to my work as an actor and producer, I am a devoted educator. I’ve led workshops and classes that integrate yoga, fitness, and theater techniques, empowering individuals to deepen their self-awareness, enhance their body-mind connection, and express themselves authentically. I am an 800-hour certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and a NASM-certified personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist, focusing on functional movement.
When I’m not on stage or screen, I thoroughly enjoy the beauty and warmth of my homebase, Orlando, FL. I’m a Brazilian jiu-jitsu enthusiast (blue belt), enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, cooking, and traveling. My curiosity and drive inform every aspect of my life, fueling my passion for growth, connection, and impact.
Driven by a love for storytelling, collaboration, and creating work that leaves a lasting impression, I thrive on opportunities to connect, collaborate, and create.
